This might not work in all cases, as you observed. The reason is that the definition of radio might include elements that force radio and its base request sources (playlist, single..) to be stereo already, so that the conversion can't do anything anymore. I'd be curious to see your script (in private if you want) to check what exactly is going on. You should stick the audio_to_stereo as close as possible to the base request sources. I'd advise to put it immediately after, at least for a start.
