Hello Savonet users. I wanted to drop a line with some news. It's
been forever since I've posted to the list and I'm ashamed to say I
don't read enough posts. But I do try to keep up with savonet news as
best I can.

Firstly, I've built some liquidsoap-0.9.3-1 rpms for Fedora 14 (x86_64
and srpm). I plan to build i586 rpms and also some packages with the
1.0 beta source. I'll post to the list when i've finished that. I
know this list seems to be primarily ubuntu, but I just can't get used
to ubuntu. Anyway, the fedora packages have some
limitations/oddities. Notably, I <still> haven't found any usable
ocaml-magic, ocaml-soundtouch or ocaml-xmlplaylist packages on fedora.
The good news is that I included ocaml-magic source into the srpm and
built it as part of the liquidsoap rpm. Since ocaml-magic seemed to
be a package necessary for liquidsoap, I had to include it. That
gives me a leg up on including the others in my next build. These
rpms are built with all other packages and codecs. Enjoy.

I've started work again on washtub, the liquidsoap controller, only to
realize what a mess that code is. Nonetheless it's been fun and had
forced me to get back into liquidsoap world. I fixed a lot of the
issues that people were experiencing, like non-latin encodings in id3
tags, queue management, etc. It's still not ready for a new version
number at the moment, but it's getting there. On controller related
news. I'm really interested in the recent version of airplay that was
posted not too long ago. The vimeo webcast preview has some nice
features. Most interesting to me was the playlist creator/scheduler.
I might steal some ideas (if that's alright with Sourcefabric). I'm
going to take a stab at installing that on fedora too. Looks pretty
straight forward.

Finally, thanks again savonet devs. I still use liquidsoap every day.
I do have some questions and problems to post to the list, but for
now I'm going to keep it fun and informative.

Take Care Everyone!
