Hmm.. So even if you have audio_to_stereo on the source, the decoder
stops decoding a file when it encounters non-uniform data.. That's
interesting and it may be changed but I'll let David respond to that
when he comes back.

In fact it exists.. It is just called "mean". However, you are right
an alias as "audio_to_mono" would be nice to have too.
