I don't see a problem, but I don't see you on our page either... You should see the HTTP requests being done for each new metadata (in addition to one for the initial registration) if you set the log.level to 4 (or pass --debug on the command line). This should tell us more on what's going on here. Also, Samuel (who's operating the system) might have more info.
Concerning geographic locations, version numbers and other things, I agree that it'd be cool! And I don't think privacy is too much of an issue since the system is meant for public streams.
