Hi Peter, Thanks for the clarification. We'll assume that the freeze on ALSA errors will have disappeared (it should be the case... maybe one way to test is to /etc/init.d/alsasound restart while liquidsoap runs, or force the unloading of audio modules).
In any case, note that liquidsoap will still shutdown on such errors, but it won't freeze so you can restart it easily.
