Hi all!

I had planned to open this with a warm, wishful happy new year but
Hugo was quicker at this:

It never hurts to do it again, though so: happy new year to y'all!

Liquidsoap development is keeping its current pace. Most notable
recently was the new support for syntax highlighting in our online
documentation [1], which we hope will help you all reading and
understanding all the code examples.

Also, there is a _very experimental_ support for json-rpc in
liquidsoap implemented in the LS-592 branch and a support for
recursion in the functions in the LS-597 branch.

As for the flows service, you can now use it to have a permanant URL
for your streams, which allows you to change your streaming servers at
any time without having to distribute new playlists:
  http://liquidsoap.fm/flows-user.html
You can bet we'll soon use that information report informations about
your listeners, put them on a map etc.. So stay tuned!

Finally, we are very proud to announce that you can now run liquidsoap
on heroku, using our custom buildpack:
  https://github.com/savonet/heroku-buildpack-liquidsoap
A trivial example of a liquidsoap application on heroku is there:
  https://github.com/savonet/heroku-template-liquidsoap

Heroku [2] is a hosting service for web applications which allows you
to run your own apps without the burden of maintaining your own
server. And the cost and time spent doing this can be a real issue
sometimes.

This buildpack allows you run a fully-featured liquidsoap 1.0.0 on
heroku, except some features unusable on heroku such as local sound
card output... Please note that the heroku infrastructure was not
really meant for streaming initially, in particular, you'll need to
host any media file somewhere online. However, we don't doubt that
this should be useful to some of you :-)
