Coming back to your questions, the start-up script, as you mentioned they are not supported by your os (centos). Speaking of centos, there seems to be some RPM for fedora, provided by Chris Everest (which also maintains washtub, a liquidsoap controler[1]) there: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/17266247/dir/fedora_15/com/liquidsoap-1.0.0-2.beta3.fc15.x86_64.rpm.html Maybe you could use them or recompile them?
