Hi,

I was looking into why Liquidsoap was taking such a high CPU % on my test
machine. Right now with our custom script Liquidsoap takes 25% CPU. When I
replace

output(%vorbis.cbr(bitrate = 160),s)

with

output(%vorbis,s)

The percentage drops to 8%.

So my question is as follows: What is so special about setting the bitrate
that causes Liquidsoap to use more CPU? I'm assuming by that Liquidsoap has
some default bitrate set for when it's outputting to icecast, so both cases
should have consistent CPU percentage.

I was reading here:

http://savonet.sourceforge.net/doc-1.0.0/encoding_formats.html

But couldn't find any information about a default value.

Am I wrong in assuming that Liquidsoap encodes everything to some default
bitrate?

Martin
