That might point to the ReplayGain analysis as the cause. To save the
machine becoming too loaded down after a large file ingest, the analysis
is performed in batches.

One way to test this would be to ingest WAV files instead of MP3 or Ogg
Vorbis. In Airtime 2.2.0 there is no support for ReplayGain for WAV
files, so you would not get those particular CPU bursts.

We've been testing this device in our Berlin office:

It doesn't seem to be available in a 110v version though. Also you may
prefer a device with an Ethernet port.

That's a viable option if the Internet connection to the transmitter
site is robust. It also makes it easier to stream out to the audience if
the Airtime machine is in a data centre.

For a small station, using a second machine is probably not
energy-efficient.

Hmmm, I wouldn't have thought that would make any difference if the
problem is really an overloaded CPU. Please let us know if you find out
