Sorry for the late response, been quite busy this week... My problem is that there is no reason whatsoever liquidsoap should be hanging like you describe with the script you gave us... I will try to reproduce it here and see if I can help more.. In the mean time, have you made any progress? One thing that would be interesting would be to test without calling any external script, in order to make sure that these scripts do not block liquidsoap..
