Hi everybody

I'm Romain from France and currently testing Liquidsoap with Icecast2 in
order to make a community webradio. (OS : Debian Squeeze 6.0.6)

I installed liquidsoap with packages from Debian Repository (liquidsoap
version : 0.9.2-3), started with a basic .liq script and run few tests with
mp3 files.

But i had some issues with the external encoder lame which always crashed
after about 60 minutes of streaming.

I know, it's an old issue : http://dev.sourcefabric.org/browse/LS-386

So i've read some solutions :

# Romain Beauxis added a comment - 26/Sep/11 5:59 PM This is a rather old
issue. It is not clear that lame is the cause of the shutdown. Besides,
with mp3 encoder now available in debian, external lame encoder should
really be avoided.

Actually, i don't understand what you're talking about. Is Debian Squeeze
concerned ? If true, how can i use this encoder instead of external lame
encoder ?

# Use OGG / Vorbis

yeah, it works great but i ve got some issues with an html5/flash webplayer
based on jquery. The player stop after each track and Flash doesn't support
Ogg

# Transcode Ogg stream to an mp3 stream

Why not but i prefer to test solutions without transcoding first.

# Build Liquidsoap from sources with lame library support

Ok, i would like to test this one but about compatibility with Debian
Squeeze, shoud i use 0.9.2 tarball or can i use the last stable one
(1.0.1) ?

And if there is another solution, please tell me ;)

Thanks for your help and for this software with great potential.

Romain (sorry another one :p )
