I thought the idea of Flake was to produce a FLAC compliant file, only quicker. However it seems there are some differences which can cause players to choke: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4758 Also I see that Flake does not currently support Ogg encapsulation, so I guess it has limited application for streaming.
