Opus, Vorbis, Speex and Flac, are all codecs maintained by xiph.org, which
also maintains Ogg container format (and little thing called icecast by the
way)

This is why it's very plausible that adding Opus plugin will break codecs
that use the Ogg container.

Adding Ogg wont break anything as long as you only add Vorbis, and/or Speex
and/or Flac codecs. The breakage, in debian/ubuntu is when you also add Opus

I've filed a bug with ubuntu, the liquidsoap package page on the ubuntu
site lists the maintainers - http://packages.ubuntu.com/utopic/liquidsoap
