I've been trying to calibrate the levels of sound coming into liquidsoap from
an alsa soundcard.

And I've been trying to make sense of the various units used in liquidsoap vs
the sound measurement programs available.

- What unit is liquidsoap's "rms" in?
- What unit is liquidsoap's "vumeter" in?
- And (tho off topic), what unit is the alsa -V in?

I did a quick comparision with some white noise, calibrated to what I have
fairly good confidence (based on jkmeter's peak meter) is the clip level of the
soundcard:

         | liq | liq | jkmeter | jkmeter | |
         | "rms" | vumeter | peak | avg | alsa -V |
         |-------+---------+---------+---------+---------|
         | 0.27 | -11 | 0.0 | 12 | 75% |

Thanks.
