Looks like the problem is then with chrome/chromium's handling of chained ogg's
It is an ongoing battle with these formats and browser compatibility,
previously ogg worked perfectly on chrome however firefox had a similar issue
with headers, so I had to serve different encodings to each browser. Now that
seems reversed. I've also got an issue open here #587 about the fdk_aac streams
in failing in firefox with "NS_ERROR_DOM_MEDIA_METADATA_ERR".
So far the most compatible streaming format im running is an external ffmpeg
call to do DASH streams.
If you have any advice regarding compatibility I'm all ears.
