I often run setups like this.
liquidsoap sends an icecast stream to a local icecast server. A remote
icecast server with better bandwidth picks up/relays a single stream from
the local icecast server and makes it available to listeners.
Over many years, we have found this to be much more reliable when compared
to letting liquidsoap send the icecast stream directly to the remote
icecast server.
This requires us to run liquidsoap and an icecast server on the local
machine.
Is there enough icecast code already in liquidsoap (harbor and the rest)
such that adding the ability to be a small and simple icecast server that
could feed a relay would be worthwhile doing?
all the best,
drew
