So, I saw someone earlier mention clocks. I was unaware of this but I will
try and remember it in case I need it in the future...

Now for the major thing...

A long time ago I found trying to "shout" across the internet to be a very
unreliable and error prone endeavoor.

Ever since then, I have made it a point to do all of my "shouting" on my
local network and let any remote servers that I need in my actual streaming
to users plans get a copy of / pull / mirror the stream they need from my
local stream server. This has always worked well for me and I have never
felt the need to go back and see if I can make remote "shouting" reliable
enough to be happy with it. If you cannot find any other solution that
makes you happy, I suggest you give this a try.
