status keterancamannya menjadi Near Threatened.
Bgaimana menurut teman-teman lain?

Sunda Coucal (Centropus nigrorufus): does it still
warrant Vulnerable status?
Sunda Coucal Centropus nigrorufus is currently
classified as Vulnerable (A2c,d; A3c,d; C2ai) because
it has a small population of 2,500-9,999 mature
individuals, with all subpopulations numbering <1,000
mature individuals, and which is inferred to be
declining at a rate exceeding 30% over ten years owing
to habitat destruction and trapping. However, Gaasas
Chunkino (in litt. 2006) has suggested that habitat
loss may not represent such a significant threat as
has been suspected, arguing that the species can adapt
to some degree to secondary growth and alternative
habitats. Furthermore he suggests that large numbers
are apparently found in the bird trade on Java,
implying that the species is much more common than
previously thought. If valid, the species may not meet
the thresholds of the Red List criteria for listing as
Vulnerable owing to small population size and rates of
decline. Further information about its tolerance of
secondary habitats, the likely impact of habitat loss,
number of birds in trade, and population and trend
estimates would be welcomed.
