hi sc-l, I'm pleased to report that even in the face of global recession, the software security space continues to grow. The space as a whole, tracked through the annual revenue of tools and services vendors, is approaching $500M.
As many of you know, I publish an annual "state of the practice" article with lots of numbers in it. The 2008 numbers were just published this morning: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1338343 For pointers to previous years' data and some discussion of the analysts covering the space (including pointers to the Gartner magic quadrant and a report by Forrester), see this Justice League posting: http://www.cigital.com/justiceleague/2009/04/16/software-security-2008/ If Q1 results from Cigital are any indication, 2009 promises to be yet another record year for software security. gem company www.cigital.com podcast www.cigital.com/silverbullet podcast www.cigital.com/realitycheck book www.swsec.com _______________________________________________ Secure Coding mailing list (SC-L) SC-L@securecoding.org List information, subscriptions, etc - http://krvw.com/mailman/listinfo/sc-l List charter available at - http://www.securecoding.org/list/charter.php SC-L is hosted and moderated by KRvW Associates, LLC (http://www.KRvW.com) as a free, non-commercial service to the software security community. _______________________________________________
