Well Natron # 1 all time WRA (whippet straight racing) was raised and
ran on Wally world food--the Max formulation I believe (it was close
to 28 protein/18 fat)

I get my feeds from the horse feed store--the animal feed stores will
stock dog foods as a convience(sp) for the farmers...Iams doesn't
work for my guys either and neither does the Purina line--but I know
folks whose whippets do great on Purina--go figgure!

Buckeye comes out of the midwest, not sure where Diamond ships
from--both have web sites where you can look up dealers..
.
Finding a good food that works for your animals is a pain--and the
only way to interview a food is to feed it for 8 weeks or more and
watch your animal--the old 'eye of the King fattenth the beaste'...

I don't like to supplement because it is too easy to screw up and
ditto for cooking or feeding raw--you can be off just slightly and
the beastes will look great for awhile and then fall off the cliff. I
like to switch between two good foods to try and catch any micro
nutrient imbalances...That is why dogs sometimes seem to do so well
when you first switch feeds....

So I went between 2 Buckeye feeds and now am alternating between the
'green bag' and the 'red bag' Diamond feeds--both fairly close in
protein and fat levels and they have diff protein sources. Since one
is a 'hotter' formulation, it is my main winter feed--our house is a
cool (we wear sweaters in the winter!) one and I like the dogs to be
out as much as possible to exercise.

Good Luck!!
Carol
