Greeting to all Good Gentles and Hounds,
Trimaris's Spring Crown Lyst was held Feb 4-6 at Ocala 4-H Camp. There were 6
greyhounds in attendance; Desert Drum, who owns THL Randwulf aet Blacwulvslea,
Cullom, who owns Lady Nova the Widow, Bella Elizabeth and Jagger Star, who own
Joe and Kathy, and Courtney of the Greyhounds and Fritz Muzzlebane, who own
Lady Caitrin ferch Briog.
Coursing was set up on Saturday afternoon by THL Randwulf, assisted by Anne
(owned by Erin the greyhound, who did not attend the event), Lady Nova and Joe.
Lady Caitrin assisted some as well. It was 107 paces in a modified and
gradual oval. Desert Drum was released first by his human, THL Randwulf while
Lady Caitrin manned the lure. Then THL Randwulf took over the lure and Lady
Caitrin released Courtney who is now 11 years old. She was followed by Bella,
Released by Kathy, Cullom, released by Lady Nova, and Jagger, released by Joe.
The first time round, everyone ran to the left. The direction was then
switched, and Desert was again released first, this time by Anne. Next Cullom
was released again by Lady Nova, and Bella and Jagger were released together
for the final run.
Fritz Muzzlebane was the only greyhound not scheduled to course, due to a
chronic limp, but during the coursing,m he managed to jump the turnout fence
and join his friends on the Coursing field. He was quicklu caught and held for
the remainder of the coursing.
There were only two minor injuries; both Desert and Courtney sustained line
cuts from the lure line.
We had three spectators who are not owned by hounds at this time, one being the
new camp Director, Sharon, who had never been to an SCA event before, and is
not only interested in attending further events, but is considering obtaining
her own greyhound!
In other hound-related business at this event, the new charter for the Coursing
college was signed and approved by the Crown and other necessary dignitaries,
and the changes of office were announced in court. I have officially stepped
down as Marshal of the Hunt in favor of THL Randwulf aet Blacwulvslea, and have
taken the newly created position of Houndmistress of the Queen's Pack,
Trimaris, which will be a Deputy position to the Marshal of the Hunt. Please
join me in congratulating THL Randwulf on his new position, and wish us both
well as we continue to work to make the Coursing College of Trimaris an
important part of the SCA in Trimaris.
Next weekend will be the in-kingdom end to this year's Coursing activities for
Trimaris. Join us at Gulf Wars and plan to attend a Trimaris Coursing event
next fall where we will be able to at last course any dog who shows an interest
in coursing and who has been tested by the College as a courser.
