These people have recently become active in
Louisiana and Arkansas. They
either claim to be a rescue or an adopter, get animals, then
resell them (sometimes to dogfighters). They've become
interested in large breed Deaf
dogs and potential fighting dogs, pits, pit mixes,
etc... Please add these
names to your 'Do Not Adopt to' list (either as the primary adopter
or reference). I immediately thought of Tate when I read this.
This may not be as far removed from the western US as we thought. In one
recent email, Lora Banks claims to live in Colorado and just posts for her
daughter. Although that is probably just another story, if anyone has any
information that she may have relocated to CO, please let
Amanda (see cross post) know ASAP. BTW, they have expanded from the
"fighting breeds" to deaf dogs, and just about every other large breed
around, as well as the other species mentioned. It is also
known for certain that they have expanded their region as far south and
west as Louisiana and Arkansas, not just Georgia to the south. They
could be trolling for dogs farther west and under names yet to be discovered.

The information is being compiled as part of an investigation of
their activities. You will not be blamed for anything. They have been
acquiring animals of many species and breeds for the last several years.
They do not always claim to be a rescue. These are not their only
"identities" but are ones we can prove.
Please let us know if you have pulled, transported, or
surrendered any animal for or to them, or if you know of anyone else who
has done so, or have any information about animals they have acquired or
tried to acquire.
Please let us know if you believe you have run across any other
identities used by them. They operate in the area in and around Blair
County, PA, and try to get dogs transported to that area
for them. They try to acquire dogs and other animals from PA and most of
the surrounding states, but have even tried to pull from as far away as
Georgia. They surf the shelter sites for out of time dogs
and other message boards for owner surrenders. They have various
stories about who they are and who the dogs are for.

I personally know of one deaf Dane this person "adopted"
from a breeder and then just a few days later, when it was clear the dog
ahd too many problems to be saleable, they either abandoned it or dumped
it at a kill shelter, despite there being a transport to a qualified
rescue already in place to help this dog. It seems they may be acquiring
dogs for free and then selling them at a profit. Whatever the specifics,
this person has no business anywhere near a dog. They sometimes claim
to run a trainging/boarding facility, but most often they say they
are "in rescue." They have been on the deaf dogs list recently,
trying to "foster," "rescue," and/or "adopt for a friend" several
deaf dogs. BAD People!
