Christiaen - there are a couple of other traditions that have been started as well. For the past 3 years at Gulf Wars tokens have been made and given to HRM Meridies to be handed out to those who participate in the Coursing of the Royal Hounds on Friday morning. Each year it has been a new design. I have just finished carving the design for this year and have handed it off to the person who will cast it. The past 3 years have been a greyhound design. This year it is a rabbit since this reign is known as "The Hound and the Hare". I discussed it with HRM Ashilde before I started carving it. Both of Meridies monarchs are hound people. In fact, HRM Ashilde will be presenting Doty, Pedo & Libby with an "Award of Paws" at Gulf Wars this year. They will be the first recipients for this award in Meridies. Although Carl-10 received the "Queen's Favor" a few years back at Gulf Wars. The Coursing Guild also tries to present the incoming Queen's with a gift from the Royal Pack sometime during their reign (preferably coronation, but this is not always possible). I also have tabards with the Kingdom's device on it for the dogs. This way if they are part of the Royal entourage, they have an appropriate outfit to wear.
Another tradition, is to have either Her Majesty or other high ranking individual select a dog that has shown outstanding tenacity, agility or some other preselected attribute during coursing to present a piece of artificial fur, real fur, plaque, dog bone, whatever to. Just a couple of other ideas.
