My Good Maestro Petruccio:

We send forth our most heartfelt consolations to Mistress Curry. Please, would
you be our gracious emissary to her? Unfortunately, we know what this sorrow is.

Also, Maestro Petruccio, it is quite a mystic thing for me to see you post
today, for although we know one another not at all, I have been thinking of you
today and was going to write to you.

I am a volunteer for a racing greyhound rescue group here in St. Louis, MO, and
have been most auspiciously blessed over the years with three greyhounds of my
own. I have had to say goodbye to two of these awesome souls due to illness
during this time. Also, I earn my keep as a professional pet sitter, and not
only have had to say goodbye to pets I have long cared for due to illness or
age, I had to say farewell just a couple days ago to a most dear and precious
friend to myself and my lovely assistant Lucy (one of my greys at the Rainbow
Bridge).

Strangely, on that day, Lucy kept "making her presence known" all day. Quite
disparate friends and customers would bring her up, out of the blue, in
conversation. I received mail that made mention of her! The next day, I
received a call from my friend/customer to give me the news of Fred's passing;
that he had gone the day before. Fred was a 220 llb. Old English Mastiff that
was absolutely giddy about Lucy. Lucy and I would go and live at Fred's house,
with him and his Mastiff brother Duncan, when my friends went out of town.
Sometimes, over the course of a Summer, Lu and I lived there more than at home!

I know now that Lucy was "around" for Fred. He would have followed Lucy so
joyously and without fear!

I'm sorry to go on about all this, but I tell you this, because today I was
thinking about your beautiful poem about the Rainbow Bridge. As I was dealing
with Fred's passing, and my mindfulness of Lucy, it also caused me to reflect
on so many pets in my life, in my volunteer work, and in my job that I've
dearly loved, and have had to part with.

Your poem puts such a comforting, lovely spin on this. I think of how maybe not
only "my" pets would come to welcome me, but also all the pets that I took care
of.

I've just recently build a website, that will include more about greyhound
rescue, my Lucy and Aidan, and also additions to my business pages (especially
about the pets I've cared for).

I wanted to see if I could have your permission to use your Rainbow Bridge poem
(with full credits of course!). Also, this Unleashed poem, is so fitting for
greyhounds; could I put it on the website, too? I know I"m asking too much!

I am a published poet and writer myself, but I love to showcase other's work,
especially when it is so beautiful and well done.

Either way, thank you for sharing these poems here, for us!
