Yaasamiin(a) - thank you for your kind words. To answer your question I am
being recognized for the hounds (Animal Husbandry). Both the science of
coursing and the research I have done. In addition, if I can put a hound on
it, I have hounds on it. I have recently started doing Calligraphy and
Illuminations (C&I) and make sure that hounds are in the C&I. I have made
tokens for GW for the last few years with hound designs. I am doing a
tablature weaving with running rabbits that I have designed the pattern. In
addition, I do Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter Egg dying) and quite often make my own
designs using either celtic knotwork dogs or hound designs (not traditional).
My pysanka eggs have received alot of recognition but due to debate as to
whether they are "period" that is not what I am receiving my Laurel in (btw, I
do have documentation that a Bishop received a pysanka egg around 1285 but I
don't have an image to show plus other text discussing eggs with designs on
them). In addition, my teaching and the way I work with the children have been
commented on. I have been told that it was noted that I work well with
instructing children on the proper way to approach a hound, that I instruct
them in a calm manner. Actually this is because I know my hounds handle
children well and I don't have to worry about any incidents. If I had a hound
that did not get along with children I might have been a bit more reactive to
make sure that the children did not get hurt.
Some of you have seen my contribution in the Complete Anachronist on "How
the greyhound was used in a period hunt". In addition, I just submitted a 20
page paper on "Veterinary practices in regards to Hounds during the Middle
Ages" to our Kingdom A&S. It was well received. I need to clean up a few
grammer issues (I obviously did not put enough comma's in it and I changed
tenses a few times - hey I am a scientist not an English major ;-) ) A few
other suggestions were offered. Once I incorporate them I will try to post it
to the list.
Once again, thank you for your kind words. Rebecca with the Greyhound

Yaasamiin(a) asked:

I am guessing you are being recognized for your prowess in bringing
authenitic hounds activities to your kingdom. Are there other talents we
should know about you?
