Once again, I am sending you greetings, not only from myself, but from the
Middle Kingdom MoAS.
Baroness Genevieve contacted me and asked that I post the following missive
to these web groups. As the web groups do not accept attatchments, I am
pasting her missive, in it's entirety to the bottom of this post. At her
request, I
am also uploading a file to the group homepages. This file is in the form of
a Microsoft Word Document.
In Service to the Kingdom and the Hounds,
THL Bethany MacDonald
--------------------------------------------------
Greetings to the Members of the Midrealm Coursing Community,
As the time for our meeting draws near, I believe the following information
needs to be posted to the coursing pages, outlining what I have planned for our
afternoon together. I hope that by now most of the fear of the unknown has
died away, and that the majority of you have come to realize that what is
happening is not the end or the renowned "disbanding" of the Coursing
Community.
With a little patience, and a little luck, this will result in the betterment
of coursing and the further advancement of what so many of you have already
committed to. For those of you not in the Midrealm, I apologize for taking up
the bandwidth with such a long missive. I have come to the conclusion that
these things are inevitably being addressed in this forum, so maybe this will
help to erase at least some questions.
It is my hope that we can quickly agree on resolutions, and that we will
leave the meeting with a new charter in hand, that can be approved and set in
practice immediately. It is also my hope that we can get through the technical
portion of this meeting quickly, having done most of the work beforehand, be
able to spend some time getting to know each other better, and simply
socializing. To this end, I would like to familiarize you with the procedure
that we
will be following for this meeting.
In an attempt to make sure that we get everything accomplished that we need
to, I will be acting as Moderator of this meeting. I will guide us through the
list of questions that have been raised, and go through the different
sections of the administrative portion of the charter that has been linked to
the
Middle Kingdom Coursing page. During this time, I will ask that there be no
interruptions. I will stop at the end of each section, and allow time for
comments. However, as I truly do want to get through this in a timely manner,
I am
asking that you wait to be acknowledged before speaking, and that you contain
your remarks to the topic, with a time limit not to exceed 2 minutes. If I
find you straying from the subject, or becoming negative in your comments, I
will ask you to sit down, and go on to the next person. We are not here to
point
fingers or make accusations. What this really amounts to is that I hope that
you all care as much as you have indicated, do your research and come to the
meeting prepared, or send me your personal views prior to the meeting. Be
assured, if you send your thoughts prior to the meeting, I will read them, and
will be better versed in what is needed as a result of your comments.
At this time, there is no plan to address the regulations, course procedures,
general rules, or safety and coursing etiquette, as I do not believe that
there are any significant changes in these portions from the original charter,
to
the updated charter that was not ratified.
The main issues that need to be discussed are as follows. I hope to address
each item in the framework of keep, throw, or re-write.
-- Financial Practices
-- Dean position and responsibilities
-- Certification and Re-Certification process
-- Houndmasters/Luremasters differentiation
-- Regional Houndmasters or the need for
-- Basic Organization and responsibilities
-- Ensure that one person does not maintain sole control
-- Clear order of leadership
-- Reporting schedule and practices at all levels
-- Huntly Pack & La Florentia
These items may change or be added to if the need arises between now and the
meeting.
I have asked for the Administrative portion of the original charter to be
posted in the file portion of this web-group. I will also be bringing copies
of
both charters with me to the event. I would like to develop a new charter
somewhere between the two already in existence. It appears obvious that the
original charter was structured closely following the layout of the Equestrian
Charter. I believe that Coursing has evolved into it's own since then, and
that
there are some changes that should be made.
Once again, I look forward to hearing from you, either before or at the
meeting that will be held at SCA Extreme Makeover II, located in Lebanon, IN.
Our
meeting is scheduled for 12:00 noon, and remember that the site closes at 4:00
p.m. I believe that if we all work together, we can make this happen!
For ease of communications, I am asking that you send your concerns, ideas,
or comments to me via email at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
