I've found by trial and error Scalr requires that snmp and ssh (ok, I
knew about snmp from before, but the ssh one surprised me a little) be
open to the world in the security groups. I have also started to see
a large number of people trying to login to my instances from various
and assorted IP's around the world. In fact, I am starting to see
significantly more attack traffic pointed at my unpublished scalr
sites than I see on our production site. It would appear that the bad
guys are targeting EC2 ;) What can we do to close this security
hole? Is there a list of Scalr IPs, or could we add an ACL for the
scalr user:group?
