osa2,

If you dont have a DNS server yet, install your current server with
bind.
See bind howto in my previous link.

After you have set your bind server on the scalr server, use it in
your DNS settings.

Host init problem sometimes is caused by the cron job running
int the background can sometimes Firing an SSH to pending(not yet
running) EC2 instance
to check or update your DNS settings. :)

Just make sure you have the DNS server and set the scalr dns settings
first.
