Does anyone know the network latency between Amazon availability zones? Do they run fiber between networks or is it some sort of private network?
If it is super speedy will likely choose the "Place in different zones" feature for our mysql and app server roles and call it a day. If it is slow I will likely be building two separate farms with custom configuration that allows for mysql replication between farms and use elastic IP for failover between them.
