I'm in the process of locking down my ports and have a few questions regarding security groups and Scalr.
Our site really only needs ports 80 and 443 open on the app server, so I'm planning to delete all other access from the app and mysql roles (including UDP, ICMP, and TCP port 22). I understand that removing permissions from the security groups only pertains to outside access, but allows all servers in the farm to have open port access. Are there any side effects to doing this? I'd hate to inadvertently break something. Then, I plan to use the scalr.net interface to enable port 22 for my local machine when needed, but close it when I'm not using it. What are others doing for security groups? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "scalr-discuss" group.
