Sam, "mysql" database is included to the DB backup as a separate .sql file (as well as all other databases).
The new 'scalr_stat' user was created before you imported backup database with an old user. I'll update this user so 'Access denied' error will not occur again. When you change your AWS credentials, you should relaunch every farm you have running. Didn't you have an old role synchronized before ?
