Yesterday I built a AWS VPC in Ireland and built a dozen Scalrized AMI for that region. These work just fine, but I found a silly issue. I did this because I have a great Farm in Oregon for testing all my AMIs. Seemed like it would save time.
When cloning a farm from one VPC to another, farm-roles fail to launch and throw the error *ERROR* *Provision Server in Cloud Platform* *Unable to launch instance:AWS Error. Request DescribeSubnets failed. The subnet ID 'subnet-nnnnnnnn' does not exist (RequestID: ad76c6c3-10ed-46a2-9c0c-da5a7d509af3)* 1. Cloned a Farm 2. In the "*Farm*" in the "*General Tab*" I changed the "*Cloud Location"* (to Ireland) and the "*VPC ID"* to a valid ID. 3. I did NOT save at this point. 4. Under each "*Farm Role*", I chose a new valid subnet for Ireland subnet-nnnnnnnn. 5. *Save and Launch.* If I try to save the Farm at step #3 above it get an error indicating that each of my farm roles requires a proper VPC subnet, so then Step #4... I assigning the subnets for each Farm ans saving results in the same error. Cloning a Farm that has not farm-roles works great. Cloning inside the same VPC, works great. I hesitated to post this because it's a niche issue, but I do believe users would find is useful to clone successful farms to other AWS regions. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "scalr-discuss" group.
