In most public secondary schools in Belgium, the teachers teaching the
different classes have to take attendance to every hour. So this means, that
every lessons starts by the check of this attendance vs absence, and as a
consequence the lost of at least 5 minutes of teaching on 50 minutes.

At the end of every day, each teacher has then to report the absences for each
classes he tought troughout the day (a very boring task). This is done (in
the school where I am teaching) in a folder that is itself entered in a
computer program by a person whose task is nearly dedicated to that.

I am dreaming I can do it once in a computer directly located in the
classroom. Many colleagues share the same opinion.

The day is divided in the following periods of 50 minutes education (dependinn
on the school, it can start at different hours)

/Lesson 1/ 8:10 am - 9:00am
/Lesson 2/ 8:00 am - 9:50 am
/Lesson 3/ 9:50 am - 10:40 am
/Break/ 10:40 am - 10:55 am
/Lesson 4/ 10:55 am - 11:45 am
/Lesson 5/ 11:45 am - 12:35 pm
/Lunch break/ 12:35 pm - 1:30 pm
/Lesson 6/ 1:30 pm - 2:20 pm
/Lesson 7/ 2:20 pm - 3:10 pm
/Lesson 8/ 3:20 pm - 4:00 pm

Thanks

Nicolas
