Hi all

I work solely with schools in my core business. I am looking at
installing SchoolTool onto our Linux server image which will see it open
up to at least 60 schools.

We use Debian on our Linux servers, and I notice there are no Deb
packages available in this format. I also notice that the Live CD
contains some deb packages. My quesiton is, why are there no debian
packages available on the web site when the developers have obviously
gone through the trouble of building .deb packages at some point?

Installing from source on Debian has proven to be unsuccessful, so it
would seem to me to be much smarter to simply build deb packages.

I think the idea is that we want you to apt-get the packages from the
Debian unstable. Perhaps we need to state that more clearly on the
website.

Thanks for your email. I discovered this a few minutes after posting my last email! Yes it would be good to mention that on the site to save others going through the process I have been through.
