In Spring 2008, Jae Rhim Lee brings a FEMA Trailer to MIT Campus in conjunction with her course, 4.391 Special Problems in Visual Arts - Module 1: Zones of Emergency: The FEMA Trailer Project.

Joe Zane worked with Michael Smith, 2005-2006 CAVS fellow, in producing the video, "Portal Excursion," a segment of Smith's 30-year work, "Mike's World." Fictional Mike, a hapless Everyman, is the subject of video, installation and performance works on display at the Whitney Biennial.

On April 4 and 5, 2008, two SMVisS grads are participating in the fourth annual *research-in-progress, presented by the History, Theory and Criticism section of the Department of Architecture at MIT. The 2008 workshop, focusing around the theme “What Object” aims to offer graduate students an opportunity to work together in cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional dialogues, and, specifically, with objects in mind. Caitlin Berrigan will present Activating Seduction (MIT, 34-401A) and Kate James: will present I Have Seven Hoovers: Objects of Domestic Maintenance, and Affection (MIT, 7-338).

Alia Farid Abdal has been accepted by the MACBA to join the PEI (Programa de Estudios Independientes) She will be joining the program in September 2008.

Matthew Mazzotta’s buscycle installation will be part of a group exhibition, “Exhibition: Art in the Public Sphere: Singular Works, Plural Possibilities,” Friday, April 25 - Sunday, May 18, at University of Massachusetts Amherst Fine Arts Center - University Gallery.
