Hello, all,

I am pleased to announce that the Siegel Teaching Prize for 2011 goes to very recent graduate, Peter Doshi. The Siegel Teaching Prize was established four years ago to recognize HASTS graduate students who have excelled as instructors of MIT undergraduates. It carries an award of $2500.

In the words of the selection committee:

“We are happy to award the Siegel Teaching Prize to graduate student Peter Doshi. In Spring 2011, in Neuroscience and Society, Peter excelled. He dealt with more than the usual number of administrative and logistical issues. He also received outstanding evaluations from recitation students for his infectious enthusiasm on the subject matter and his ability to engage the students while encouraging them to bring their own experiences and ideas to the discussion. Perhaps most importantly he responded winningly to the call of duty when his supervising professor was confined to bed-rest, effectively taking on double the duties for which he had initially signed-on. Congratulations Peter!!”

Thanks also to Sherry Turkle and Hanna Rose Shell who sat on the Prize Committee.

Congratulations again to Peter!

best,
Dave
