btw, i like the chessx project, the idea of writing a modern chess interface. 
but the work at scid is much more active, so what about putting the ideas of 
the chessx project into the scid project?



The code is a mess, but i works well, it's a bit of magic :-)
If you have spare time, imho the first most important step is to separate c 
code from tk/tcl.
If you look at tkscid.cpp all sc_* functions should simply call a new neat 
interface that expose scid's database functionality.
In this way new functions, bug fixes and improvements are trasparent to GUI and 
you don't need to rewrite tk/tcl code, you simply add new GUIs.
Maybe the new interface could be implemented via net sockets: you can have the 
database on a server and connect to it with your new Java GUI from your 
netbook's browser (or iPhone applet).
