what OS/distro?

The basic idea is that you download scid's source tree, patch the given 
file, and rebuild the source tree yourself. But if you want to go this 
way, I would recommend a jump into the CVS development version rightaway.

A hack (really) if this is beyond you: you may want to try to path the 
tcl text in the executable, using a decent text editor.

If this helps, go ahead; if not, you'd better wait for the next release, 
I guess.
