You can run

$ scid <database-name-without-suffix>

to have the database opened after startup. This implicitly loads the first
game of that database.

Idea is to allow drag-and-drop of a base icon onto the scid icon in a 
gui context. Not sure though which of the database files you would need 
to drag (in view of the file extension, which is not needed on the 
command line).

I do not think there is something additional to this to load a specific 
game.
