You've done plenty already.  Thank you.  I'm keen to make (hack) this feature 
myself - whether it ever gets rolled in to the repository or not.

Please don't feel pressured by my flow-of-consciousness updates, Steven.  I 
know how you over-achievers are :)

I'd like to keep reporting my progress from time to time, unless you or others 
feel it clutters the list too much.  Of course I welcome comments, but I don't 
expect any.
