I've got some familiarity with Bookup/Chess Openings Wizard and I was looking for an application I could run on the Mac that would be helpful developing my opening repertoire. I'd played around with Scid ever now and then in past years and thought I'd look at it again. The feature I was most interested in is Play->Training->Openings. It seems like there is a transition going on from a Repertoire editor to using Trees and Masks. Is the Play->Training->Openings function working with Trees and Masks? I have been trying it out and it's been a little tough to get working. I get the "Open first a repertoire database with icon/type set to the right" error. I managed to work around that by opening the Windows->Tree view and creating a Mask and loading a simple Game. I noticed a few issues though:
* The Tree Window isn't really remembering whether it is still open or not. * The Masks->Open Recent seems to not work. * I can't seem to get the training to work for Black - always seems to want me to play White no matter what I pick. I downloaded the Wintel version and had the same issues. Are these issues happening in an area that is known to need some work or does anyone have any good tips to work around this? --- Douglas Stewart doug...@pobox.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
