[Sorry for sending this before in HTML format. I see now that it's unreadable
on the mailing list. I'll send as pure text from now on.]

I am running SCID on a Fedora Linux desktop. My OS just automatically updated
SCID to version 5.1, but now the default fonts are too small to read
comfortably on my screen. I went into Options --> Preferences --> Fonts and
made all the fonts larger, but nothing changed immediately. So I restarted the
program, but still, nothing changed. However, most of the other preferences,
such as board color, changed immediately and stayed changed when I restarted
the program.

I finally discovered that I could edit the font lines in
~/.scid5.1/config/options.dat directly, and then the new settings would take.

Why can I not change them directly from the program?
