Hi,

After pressing an arrow to navigate in a game, are you sure the main 
window (board) keeps focus (ie is it displayed like a topmost window ?).
with some window managers it is possible to have the focus following the 
mouse, so maybe you lose focus with a mouse move without noticing it ...
Do you have the same phenomenon in the PGN window (which responds to 
arrow keys like the board window) ? Other windows don't have the same 
key bindings.

I personaly use Suse 10.1 without problem.
