Two separate issues.

1) I just installed 3.6.14. It seems sth changed in the way variations
are handled, and I do not like the change. Two problems

a) I enter long variation, then move back a couple of moves in it, make
another move and ... buum, silently whole long line gets thrown away.
Prev scid asked whether to replace move, add new variation or try one.

b) I am no longer able to make variation starting with the same move as
maintext move. This makes annotating games in progress difficult. The
case: I am playing some correspondence game tracked in scid, got
opponent move. While thinking about my reply I would like to enter some
(expected) variations. But scid (older, newer) puts new moves as main
text as they are on the very end of the game. In prev version I just
moved one half-move back, re-entered last opponent move, got new
variation started, and entered move in this var. In 3.6.14 scid just
moves forward in maintext and I am unable to enter variation.

2) This problem is present since Shane scid. On my Debian Linux,
checkboxes in menu (options etc) look exactly the same when checked, and
when not checked. Is it possible to change this somehow?
Some observations:
- tcl/tk demo application displays uncheckec checkboxes in grey, when
they are checked changes their look to depressed and paints them red inside
- checkbox displayed by scid in the startup window looks and behaves
exactly the same
- checkbox in Tree window is not painted red anymore, but at least
changes look to depressed
- checkboxes in menu always look unpressed and are not painted, even
when the options they mark are active (and work as expected)
