Well Marcin, it looks like you'd like to find a workaround to this limit ;-)
For me the problem is not to make it work (it seems not too hard) but wether it is desirable or not. Simply consider that changing the length encoding of a game from 16 bits to 32 bits will slightly increase base sizes (a bit annoying on a pocket PC) and may have some drawbacks (among them a compatibility one : someone with Scid 3.6.1 will not be able to open a base generated with Scid 3.6.19+). For now I am concentrated on Scid Pocket, which I tend to use far more than the PC version.
