Technically SCID is not presently being developed, but two forks, ChessDB and
SCID-pg, are under active development.
I made the mistake of stepping into this cow pie of an argument when I posted a
positive review of ChessDB at my web site. I had no idea of all the
controversy, and people started attacking the maker of ChessDB. It was all
quite confusing. Here is my innocent post, which is when I unwittingly stepped
into the silly and petty spat between Pasco and Kirkby:

I later posted about it here:
http://chessconfessions.blogspot.com/2007/09/sanity-in-open-source-world.html
The latter includes a wonderfully objective assessment of the spat, found here:

Pascal, your product is good, and I appreciate all your work. However, you
seem disingenouous in your claims, as Guy Macon pointed out well in the last
link. So is Kirkby in his complaints about plagiarism, as Guy Macon also points
out. It seems you both are arguing based on poor understanding of how
copylefted material works, and are both being incredibly stubborn and both end
up looking wrong.
I'm sure this has never been discussed here before and is an uncontroversial
topic. :)
