It is not a 100% intentional behavior, but the way it works seems ok for me : at least this prevents moves to be entered in cache hence removing former ones, which an user may not want. It takes a very long time to fill thousands of moves in the cache, so I would not like to have some moves automatically entered into the cache simply because I forgot that I checked the auto-save option.
