This is strange, indeed. I use the arrow keys for moving
around the game all the time on my Debian box using cvs.
(Not yet v4.)

Any "strange" setup? Or just the usual GNOME setup? (Say a
funny windowmanager that does some things.)

Beyond 3.6.26 you'll need 8.5.
