Did you disable the tablebases in your build? AFAIK Debian does this for 
licensing reasons. I'm not sure about others. But if your distribution 
enforces GPL and you're using a distributed package of some sort, most 
likely tablebases are removed from the code. If you build from source, 
however, it should be available.
