I agree and I'd also find this useful for blunder checking. Especially, 
if one has already a bunch of annotations in a game adding scores to the 
mainline only I'd consider very helpful.

I agree to your point. An option would be to trigger infinite analysis 
of the final position by the game score. If the game is *, let the 
engine think, if the game is 1-0, 1/2-1/2 or 0-1 stop it. However, 
actually I don't think that another checkbox is more confusing than this 
  hidden toggle.
